    Organized by Chengdu Technological Consultant Organization, the first CAS (Chinese Academy of Science) academician salon on THz technology was held in Taicheng Hotel, Chengdu, 13th, Oct. With a theme of THz research and recent application, the salon participants included the THz experts such as Shenggang Liu (CAS academician), Peiheng Wu (CAS academician), Tingzhao Rong (CAS academician), Prof. Weixin Xie, Shangfu Ye (CAS academician), Xixiang Zhang (CAS academician), Wenhan Jiang (CAS academician), and MingJing Tu (CAS academician) etc. The government of Chengdu City also paid such a great attention to this gathering that the Vice CPA Secretary of Chengdu Mr. Zhibin Song and the Director of Chengdu Technology Bureau Haiyuan Chen attended this meeting too.

    Shenggang Liu (CAS academician) presided the salon by introducing the current development of THz technology at home and abroad. He emphasized the importance of the integrity between THz and economic progressing of Chengdu and the vital necessity of establishing THz research center in Chengdu. After that, experts concerned, such as Peiheng Wu (CAS academician), Tingzhao Rong (CAS academician), Prof. Weixin Xie, and Yang Lu Phd., reported on their own THz projects respectively. Vice CPA Secretary Mr. Zhibin Song sang high praise for their achievement.

    The afternoon seminar attracted a lot of voices and suggestions from all the participants as to how to set up an advanced Chengdu THz Research Center. Wenhan Jiang (CAS academician), and MingJing Tu (CAS academician) strongly pointed out that THz application research should be put into the first place premising the deep understanding material interaction.

    The editor of China THz Network Jojo Ma also made a report on network strategy, development and expert committee construction for all the salon members. The second salon was also scheduled at the end of this meeting because of the invaluable benefit and inspiration of every one. The first salon promoted a better communication for all the THz experts and turned a new page for the development of Sichuan THz application research.
