    Goodrich Corporation has delivered an industry first ¡ª a high resolution, scanning terahertz spectrometer to be used by the U.S. Army. Under a contract, originally announced in 2005, Goodrich and the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, Md., have been involved in the development and production of this terahertz spectrometer.

    The key features of the spectrometer include very narrow line widths over a large frequency range. This allows the user to determine the terahertz signatures of gasses, liquids and solids, with potential applications in differentiation of hazardous substances. The system was developed by Goodrich¡¯s Electro-Optical Systems business in Danbury, Conn.
