    The Annual Conference of CIE Terahertz (THz) Expert Committee as well as Mid-term Report of THz 973 Project was successfully held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province from 29th November to 1st December, 2008. Eight academicians (Liu Shenggang, Chen Jia¡¯er, Fan Mingwu, Fan Dianyuan, Yao Jianquan, Wu Peiheng, Guo Guangcan, and Wu Yicheng) participated in this conference as well as numerous scholars and experts related in this field.

    This conference was sponsored by CIE THz Expert Committee as well as Expert Committee of THz 973 Project and it was organized by College of Information Science and Engineering and THz Research Center of Zhejiang University. As an excellent platform of information exchanging, there were 7 invited reports and 21 expert reports focusing on theoretical study of THz, basic devices and innovative application. In addition, Ma Shuang, editor of China Terahertz R&D Network and international online magazine Terahertz Science & Technology, also made a special report on the progress of the website and the journal
