BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SICAST

In 2006 it was decided to run a series of small international conferences in Shenzhen in particular areas of science and technology---"Shenzhen International Conference on Advanced Science and Technology (SICAST)". The conference is usually held every two years in November. The first SICAST on THz Science and Technology was held in November, 2007, and the second, third and fourth in November 2009, 2011 and 2013, respectively. However, this year SICAST will be held in August, immediately before the 40th IRMMW-THz Conference, which is to be held in Hong Kong, to make it easier for delegates to attend both if they wish. There are about 100 participants and about 10-20 invited speakers at each SICAST conference, participation is by invitation only.

SICAST provides an excellent forum for leading scientists in this area to meet for scientific exchanges and discussions of further development of THz Science and Technology and its applications. It is emphasized that SICAST is a "Pure Science" meeting, so all speakers are asked to avoid any sensitive matters so that all participants can exchange their ideas freely.

All the papers of the Invited Talks presented at the SICAST will be published in journal of "Terahertz Science and Technology (TST)", so that scientists and researchers in this area all over the world can share the meeting freely with us. TST was established in 2008 and registered in the USA, which is an On-line journal specifically devoted to terahertz work, which is completely free of charge for submission, read and download. TST can be found at the website: http://www.tstnetwork.org, it has had more than 10000 readers already, it also accepts submitted papers for publication after referring.

IRMMW-THz IOC also support the running of SICAST, A proposal for establishing the Shenzhen conference series was presented to the International Organizing Committee (IOC) of IRMMW-THz 2007 in Cardiff.

The SICAST is co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Science Foundation, Shenzhen Government and Shenzhen University.

Conference Dates: August 18-22, 2015

Delegates are asked to arrive on Tuesday, August 18, and the technical sessions will run for 4 days from Wednesday, August 19, to Saturday, August 22, inclusive.

AFTER THE CONFERENCE

On the morning of Sunday, August 23, the conference will organise transportation for everyone who wishes to go to Hong Kong to attend the IRMMW-THz conference.
